Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop a system that instructs the user to put the throat microphone on the suitable position. Therefore, we investigated the location of the throat microphone, where voice quality is less likely to be degraded than that produced by a condenser microphone. To investigate this, we checked whether there is a similar tendency between the subjective similarity of throat microphone voice and condenser microphone voice, and the objective similarity by formant frequency ratio obtained from the two voices. The results of the experiment showed that the higher the subjective similarity between the throat microphone voice and the condenser microphone voice, the closer the formant frequency ratio of the first and second formants were to 1. It was also confirmed that the ratio of the first formant approached 1 when the throat microphone was mounted on the upper side of the neck.
